Documents to Include When Applying to a UK University
The Application Form
The most important point is to fill it out neatly. This makes a big difference. Write in Capital letters and black pen. Do it slowly making sure you do not make mistakes. British professors DO NOT like the use of White-Out or crossing out of mistakes. So take time to do it neatly and without mistakes. Make blank copies of the form before you begin, so if you make a mistake you can start again. It does not matter if you use an original university application form or a copied one. You can print most application forms from the university websites.
The Documents
Take care to make your application package look good. This gives a good impression of your character. Pages that have translations in English should be stapled together. The application form should be filled in neatly. If you have a good resume, include it, but do not just add one that you have written in one hour and that covers only half a page.
Documents are best arranged in this order:
The university application form
Your university degree certificate and transcript (+translations)
Your IELTS/TOEFL certificate (if available)
Personal Statement
2 References (in sealed envelopes)
Any scholarships you may have (+ translations)
If you put all the documents inside a clear folder it will add a nice touch. Also, a cover letter, briefly listing the documents you have included and the course you are applying for will look good.
